I probably would never get my hands on a replacement VZ10m. Until I bought them (together from the same person) I had never seen one in real life. I own an FS1r which to me sounds like the best FM synth (short of Synclavier) of all time and I own an E4xt ultra which is one of the best hardware sample based synthesizers of all time too. I have plenty of synths in both categories including the Yamaha SY99 which manages to be both. It's really pitting an FM synth against a glorifed rompler I know. I have plenty of other synths if I want to make my own sounds. I most likely will never program a sound on the K2500 or the VZ10m because from what I understand they are both complex to program on. I own a Triton Extreme and there's just so many free patches available that it makes it worth owning. That's fine because I also enjoy using presets especially when there are just large amounts available. I am a sound programmer kind of guy but I don't enjoy getting super tweaky on deep menu diving synths. As well as kurzweil being one of the major sample formats, I'm sure there is more sounds easily available for it. It was super expensive but it's what all the pros seemed to have at the time. I worked at Guitar center in the 90's and I remember the K2500 was THE board to have. I think there might not be much available though because I believe the product was never popular and made for a very short time.

I would probably treat the VZ10ms like preset machines and just find whatever patches I can for them. They don't sound like a DX to me so far though, and do sound great. I know the VZ10ms are very much not like that, and more like a DX7. Those things are easy to program, and I'm aware the CZ is like an EZ mode FM, really phase distortion but programmed with familiar synthesizer parameters. I own a CZ-1 for some years and previously a Cz101. I have 2 VZ10ms for awhile now but only played their presets and have not tried programming them. I have both synths in my possession already but am not that familiar with either one.
